Meet The Team at The Travelwallet

Maggie Rogers
maggie-2_ppThis year I have been a travel agent for 40 years, not sure where all the years have gone but I obviously enjoy what I do ! I picked the keys up for The Travelwallet on 02/02/2002 so a very memorable date in more than one way.

I have travelled extensively over this time, in my younger days escorting groups to various places in Europe. In the travel industry we are fortunate to go on Educational’s where you are taken to a destination and spend the whole time visiting the attractions, hotels and experiencing first hand what you can then offer your clients.

I have done some amazing things on my travels, sailing around Sydney Harbour before flying over it in a Helicopter, swimming with Manta Rays in the Maldives off the side of the luxury Four Seasons Catamaran, Explorer. On the theme of helicopters I have flown over The Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls.

Last year I visited South America for the first time and fell in love with Ecuador, such a fabulous place,
the stunning beauty of the Andes, we went right into the heart of the Amazon, a 2 hour boat trip, followed by a 40 minute hike through the rain forest before getting in to canoes and paddling a further 30 mins before arriving at Sacha Lodge where we saw a massive array of
wildlife.

Other favourite grand canyon holidaysdestinations of mine are USA & Canada I have been fortunate enough to spend time on the beautiful beaches of Florida, go hiking in Bryce, Zion and Mount Rainier National Parks, sail on Lake Powell, take a show in Las Vegas. Cycle around Washington, go shopping in New York & Los Angeles, visit Alcatraz in San Francisco, have lunch at the top of the space needle in Seattle, sail in Chesapeake Bay.

I have just returned from an amazing stay at Triple Creek Ranch in cowboy holidays
Montana riding through the absolutely stunning countryside before relaxing in the hot tub in my luxurious log cabin. I have travelled through the Rockies on the iconic Rocky Mountaineer , go Whale watching off Vancouver Island, take seaplane flights the list is endless. For more a more relaxing time I have bobbed around in the pool in a villa in Jamaica listening to Bob Marley. Gone fishing off St Lucia, sailing in Barbados, snorkeling in the Turks and Caicos Islands I have been to Australia, I loved Sydney, went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, sat and looked at the stars in Cape Tribulation where the rain forest meets the Reef. South Africa is a great destination, Cape Town is a lovely city, visiting Robben Island, Cape Point, wine tasting and a must do when in Africa stay in one of the luxurious Game Reserves.

Taj Mahal holidaysI have been close enough to an Elephant that I could have stroked its head, watching Lion, Giraffe, Lions all really close by, just amazing. I love the Far East such a mixture of exotic and chaotic, bustling Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore are all Cities I have visited.

Also travelling to the exotic resorts of Tangjun Jara, Pangkor Laut and visited the tea plantations in the Cameron Highlands, also enjoying some fabulous beaches in Thailand. I have visited many Cities in Europe, going to Paris, Dubrovnik and Copenhagen for Lunch. I enjoyed Krakow, Vienna, Prague, Helsinki, Budapest, Venice, Rome, Florence and many Spanish Cities. I loved Reykjavik and the amazing activities we experienced going out in our Super Jeeps for the day.

I have a real fondness for Greece a place I have travelled to many times. Italy is so diverse with so much to offer, I just love the food and the pace of life there. I have travelled quite a lot around the whole of Europe including Spain, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Turkey and Egypt, the short flights are quite nice at times. I have also been on a couple of Cruises which I enjoyed and I would like to experience more of this form of travel and would love to go on a River Cruise as they are something we area booking more of all the time.

I am the Wedding Specialist in the office and work very hard to ensure my Bride’s & Groom’s special day is all they have dreamed of. I also book many honeymoons and work on the same ethos. As you can see I just love travelling and after all these years I still get a real buzz from finding my clients the right holiday.

I specialise in tailor making long haul itineraries to all the places I have been as well as those I have not been to like New Zealand and other parts of South America. I really enjoy the fact that my experiences help to make amazing holidays and memories for my clients.

I started at The Travelwallet back in 2002 with Maggie when we first opened and previous to that I spent 5 years at Bridgnorth Travel where I trained as a Travel Consultant.

Since I was at school, I always wanted to be a Travel Agent but went off in another direction before eventually I was given the opportunity to do the job I always had a great interest in.

Travelling to different destinations was always of great excitement when I was a child, stepping on the plane was just the start of it and I couldn’t wait to get my toes in the sand at the other end! Many years on and I still feel the same excitement and I guess that’s why I am so fond of the Indian Ocean, Mauritius, Maldives and the Seychelles, plus the Caribbean. My first ever educational was to Mauritius many years ago and this is when my love for luxury long haul pristine beach holidays began.

I specialise in The Indian Ocean and the Middle East, the Maldives being my all-time favourite destination, followed by Dubai which is the complete opposite end of the scale to the Maldives. I have been lucky enough to have visited the Maldives on 6 different occasions, where still it takes my breath away when flying over all the Atolls and islands on the Sea Plane.

Dubai follows in a close second to The Maldives for me – So diverse and ever changing. This is where you go for guaranteed luxury, service and sunshine, right up my street! I have also travelled to many European destinations, Ibiza Town being one of my favourites, as well as various city breaks, the Italian ones I particularly love, Venice being top of my list. Finally, the Caribbean, another fabulous part of the world with beautiful beaches and laid back lifestyle –

I have visited Antigua, St Lucia, Mustique and Barbados. Mustique is my absolute favourite so far and think everyone should visit this tiny bit of exclusive paradise once in their life time! Words can’t explain the breath taking views from Princess Margaret’s House and many other locations on this heavenly Island, not forgetting a Rum punch at Basil’s Bar!

Hopefully I will get to see more of the Caribbean along with other parts of the big wide world in years to come, but in the meantime I will continue to share my knowledge and passion for the fabulous destinations I have experienced when researching holidays for our clients.

I fell in love with Cuba, such a vibrant amazing place – like stepping back in time, we had cocktails in Hemmingway’s bar, took a ride around Havana in as old classic car, and of course sampled the local rum whilst watching cigars being rolled by the locals.

I have been to Florida many times, staying in villas and hotels in the Orlando area to make the most of the thrilling theme parks and attractions, and then venturing down to the Clearwater coast which is great place to relax and unwind after all the excitement of Orlando.

We have had many family holidays in Europe and are lucky enough to have a holiday home in Menorca, so I know the island extremely well from the best beaches to hidden gems of local restaurants and bars.

I have always had a passion for travel and years of experience booking cruise holidays with many different cruise lines around the world.

I thoroughly enjoy what I do and make it my mission to find the perfect holiday for clients. After all these years I wouldn’t know how to do anything else.
