It is a gorgeous Island to explore with many of the worlds most beautiful resorts. It is a mix of many cultures, African, Indian, European and Asian. Tourism is its main revenue followed by Sugar cane, Rum and Coffee.

The Island has many white sandy beaches , mountains, water falls and lots of fabulous golf courses .It is 4 hours plus GMT. You can fly Emirates from Birmingham via Dubai or Air Mauritius from Heathrow or from Birmingham via Amsterdam.

The weather is tropical with average temperature of mid 20’s.The best months to visit are October to December .The hottest is January to April with the highest rainfall in January and February.

The people are very friendly and they all speak English.

Trips

Dolphin Cruise I went on this tour in the South West ,it was beautiful seeing so many riding the waves of the boat. You can go in a small group in a rib and swim in the water near them. It is up to the dolphins if they stay with you

BBQ and Snorkelling CruisI went on this tour in the North.You visit 3 islands ,one with no beach just for snorkeling and another with a tiny beautiful open air church.They BBQ on the boat

Deep Sea Fishing especially for Marlin  My Husband caught one over 6ft

Rum Tasting and Sugar Factory

Grand Bassin Volcano ,Waterfall, Temple, 7 Colour Earth I went on this tour and it was very interesting seeing the sites. You get a different perspective of Mauritius as they are inland. 

Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens I went on this tour and the garden are full of exotic species. Very interesting even if you are not a gardener.

Craft markets I went to one in Port Louis . I loved  hustle and bustle of the market plus the amazing selection of spices.

Casela Safari Park, Zip Line and Bungee Jumping 

Visit the capital Port Louis and Grand Baie. I liked Grand Baie with lots of restaurants,bars and shop .Port Louis had a very nice area by the docks similar to Covent Garden 

 

Horse Racing at the oldest course in the Southern Hemisphere (Open from April to November )

Climbing La Morne Mountain or others

Shangri La Le Touessrok -5 Star Hotel

After an extensive six-month renovation, Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, reopened on 1 November.2015 .The resort offers an atmosphere of refined island luxury on the east coast .Thoughtfully renovated in accordance with plush contemporary design. Sea views can be enjoyed from all the 205 rooms, which include Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites,  located in either the Hibiscus or Frangipani Wings. To step from your terrace to the sand opt for one of the Beach Access Deluxe Rooms or Junior Suites. You can also opt for one of three beautiful  Deluxe Villas which are located on an exclusive islet which is connected to the mainland by a bridge.The resort has two beautiful pools including an adults only .

In addition, with fashionable restaurants, bars to keep the more active world traveller entertained . The water sports and island activities can be customised to suit any guest’s unique interests. There are two islands a short free boat ride from the Resort ,Ilot Mangénie, which is open exclusively to Shangri-La’s guests and features a beach club and on-island butlers, and Ile aux Cerfs, which holds a spectacular 18-hole championship golf course that was designed by the famous pro-golfer Bernhard Langer. 

The resorts five restaurants (one lunch only) offering dishes from around the world. At the hotel’s main restaurant, Le Bazar a wide range of Asian-inspired and international dishes are available while at the brand new venue Kushi teppanyaki, tempura and sushi dishes are created by Japanese master chefs. If you are looking for something a little more casual there’s the beachfront Republik Beach Club & Grill, a popular spot to gather to enjoy grilled dishes and live music.The outstanding Resturant is Safran ,the menu was conceived by internationally acclaimed Chef Ramesh Bundi and provides an array of popular Indian dishes served family-style. I thought this was a truly memorable dining experience, from decoration and ambience to preparation and presentation. In addition to an extensive a la carte menu, the restaurant offers set menus, including vegetarian options and  a copper clad tandoori oven.

Guests staying in the Frangipani Wing can enjoy breakfast at Republik and a free cocktail hour between 5 and 6 pm on the beach .The hotels  entertainment is good with a great bar with live music each evening .Within the lobby area there is a coffee bar with a delicious selection of ice creams .

T-Club (the Kids’ Club) is open from 9am to 10pm daily. Access is free for all children aged between four and 11 years old. The large, well-equipped clubhouse provides fun, imaginative programmes and activities. Children can enjoy golf, tennis, windsurfing and swimming, as well as a variety of educational exercises. Babysitters are required for unaccompanied children younger than four years old, and are available at an additional charge. Access to the Teens Club is free for children from 12 to 17 years old. Here, teens will meet new friends from around the world in a fun, safe environment and enjoy sports, educational outings, dancing and themed evenings.

The luxury Mauritius 5 star resort on the East Coast Long Beach offers no less than 5 quality restaurants. At the heart of the hotel, restaurants surround the bustling plaza. This resort is on the East coast  with a mile-and-half long beach. This beach can be windy but it is sheltered . The recently-refurbished Constance Belle Mare Plage features a traditional island design as well as modern details and state-of-the-art facilities. Ideal for golfing enthusiasts, the resort has two 18-hole championship golf courses that are free to use throughout your stay., one is a Links course.

Seven distinctive restaurants and six bars ,one with swinging bar seats .

Breakfast and dinner are served daily at the main buffet restaurant La Citronnelle, while gourmet European and Mauritian dishes are served nightly at the Blue Penny Cellar which has over 15000 bottles of Wine,and is only include once in a 7 day stay and the Deer Hunter Restaurant. Mediterranean dishes can be enjoyed at the beachfront restaurant La Spiaggia at lunch and dinner. One of our favourite spots is the laid-back Lakaze restaurant which is located on the beach and is open for lunch and late afternoon and early evening sweet treats. The waterside Indigo is a popular spot due to its incredible views and Asian and European fusion dishes. 

It is a large hotel with 278 rooms, suites and villas ,housed in delightful thatched two and three-storey buildings throughout the resort. The traditional Prestige Rooms are ideal if you want to be close to the main facilities while the Junior Suites allow for a little extra space. If you’re travelling as a group or family and are seeking a little indulgence, opt for one of the Two Bedroom Villas, some of which are located right by the beach and feature a pool on the terrace .

There’s lots going on and a good choice of facilities for families. The Constance Kids’ Club welcomes children aged 4 to 11 and has a games room, playground and daily supervised indoor and outdoor activities. Babysitting is also available on request

Constance Le Prince – 5 Star Hotel

In a secluded setting, Prince Maurice – a member of the Leading Hotels of the World with an exclusive, yet relaxed ambiance and the effortless service renowned of the Constance brand on the East Coast .It always features as number one or two on trip adviser . The beautiful tropical gardens house extensive facilities including the U Spa by Constance, a kite surfing school and a beautiful beach-front infinity pool. Guests can also enjoy complimentary green fees at the two golf courses at the nearby sister resort Constance Belle Mare Plage.

You have a chose of four restaurants and three bars .At the main restaurant, L’Archipel, guests can enjoy a buffet breakfast and an à la carte lunch and dinner, while the laidback Beach Deck is the ideal spot for lunch. The Asian restaurant has a beautiful water-side setting and is open for lunch and dinner, with a Japanese sushi bar. The excellent Barachois, where tables are set on five floating decks on the shimmering lagoon. There’s also a floating bar – perfect for a sundowner. The resort’s Wine Cellar is the one of the largest in the Indian Ocean with over 25,000 bottles and a dedicated area for wine tastings.

There are only 89 luxurious suites and villas are set throughout the resort. Junior Suites are either in the tropical gardens, by the beach or on stilts over the edge of the lagoon. The Villas on Stilts overlook the lagoon and offer even more space including a living/dining room, while the Villas Beachfront feature a plunge pool on the terrace. For families we recommend the Family Suites which have a second bedroom with bunk beds.

Ravenela Attitude – 4 Star Plus Hotel

The Ravenala Attitude is a fresh and welcoming resort on Turtle Bay, which is in the North West near Grand Baie. Set throughout tropical gardens and fronted by a gold-sand beach, this is the perfect spot for relaxation. If you’re looking for a more active break have a go at paddle boarding, windsurfing and canoeing or splash out on diving, parasailing or waterskiing. 

There is a particular emphasis on cuisine here with 10 dining outlets – from family friendly to adults only.  A buffet breakfast at the main restaurant while lunch can also be enjoyed at the waterfront restaurant Ō, Beach BBQ and Taba-j. It’s at dinner when the resort really comes into its own with eight restaurants to choose from, seven of which are included in the all-inclusive package.

The St. Regis Villa

This is the largest villa in the Indian Ocean where many famous names have stayed .

Indian Ocean sunsets have never been more seductive than from the elegant outdoor spaces of The St. Regis Villa. Three of its four bedrooms feature a private furnished deck and a heated plunge pool, and two of them afford an outdoor shower. Additionally, the villa boasts a heated infinity pool with a children’s area and a Jacuzzi, as well as several outdoor seating areas and a bar.

The villa is dramatically distinguished by its numerous indoor facilities. When its sliding doors are open, a formal lounge allows stunning ocean views from contemporary sofas and chairs, while an informal lounge is equipped with a 56-inch LED TV, a Sony PlayStation® PS3™, and a Nintendo® Wii™. The secluded office contains a modern desk and seating, a computer, a printer, a scanner, and a 32-inch TV. A steam room adjoins the fitness room, which has both cardio and weight machines; a personal trainer can be arranged upon request.

The two-bedroom villa includes the central infinity pool, private gym, two indoor lounges, and office. Each one-bedroom villa features an outdoor terrace with direct beach access.

I was lucky enough to spend an evening here as the management arranged a party for us. It was the most amazing place I have ever been to. The villa was enormous and had every thing you could possible want.

I have been lucky enough to holiday in Mauritius 4 times and I will definitely return again.
