Vicki’s One Holiday She Certainly Will Never Forget

No words or pictures can explain how truly stunning this tiny bit of super luxury paradise is. Pink Sands Club sits within the Grenadines, close to St Vincent and right next to the Tobago Cays.

Approximately 30 from Barbados on a small Grenadines Airways flight, we arrived at Canouan Island. After clearing customers we were whisked off in the Hotel’s Mercedes and arrived 15 minutes later at Pink Sands Club.

If you have ever been to Sandy Lane in Barbados, you will see the resemblance as Pink Sands was originally owned by the same owner as Sandy Lane.

However, Pink Sands is on a smaller scale, made up of just 24 suites, 2 Penthouses and 6 Villas – All of which are lavishly decorated with Italian marble and dark wood furnishings.

Our lavish Suite had one bedroom, separate lounge, beautiful dressing room which leads through to a fabulous bathroom with double sinks, bath and separate shower – This was the first time I have ever walked into a Hotel room and been speechless.

It was absolutely stunning, so much attention to detail like ipads to control every single switch in the room, as well as the curtains, a complimentary bar with snacks replenished daily and THE most comfortable huge bed I have ever slept in ! Not forgetting my Husbands all time favourite feature… the TV’s hidden within the mirrors, one in the lounge area and another hidden in the sliding door separating the bedroom from the lounge – Pink Sands really have thought of everything.

Suites are located on just 2 floors, we chose a first floor room for the beautiful views of the beach in front but the lower floor suites have a small garden area with a path down onto the sandy beach. It is down to personal preference.

All 3 of the hotel restaurants are stunning and the food was exceptional – I would recommend the Half Board option as you can dine in any restaurant off the A La Carte menu.

There are 2 more restaurants on the Canuoan Estate which you can also use.

Each Suite comes with its own Club Car to navigate yourself across the island to the many beaches, beach bar and the fabulous 18 hole Golf Course.

Other facilities include Tennis Courts, fitness centre, cycling, watersports and fabulous snorkelling – Canouan boasts one of the best Reefs in the Caribbean.

We also sampled the beautiful ESPA Spa which features 9 hillside Palapas and 2 overwater glass floored Palapas only accessed by boat. The over water ones were currently out of use due to the rough seas but were in the process of planning a new jetty to connect them to land.

So whether you want a full on relaxing holiday or a busy activity week, then Pink Sands has it all to offer.

When we weren’t relaxing on the beach or by the pool, we would spend many hours out in our Club Car, searching for one of the many secluded beaches, stopping off at Turtle Beach bar for a drink or 2 before heading further up into the hills to seek out the old derelict casino.

This was a popular drawer for Canuoan many years ago, when visitors flocked to the island just to gamble all night at this well-known casino. Now the only visitors are the islands Tortoise population!

We would always have to be careful not to speed along the roads in our Club Car, due to the huge amounts of Tortoises strolling across the roads, it was fascinating just watching them to begin with but after a day or two, the tortoises just became normal island life!

You can get married on the Canuoan Estate at the local church situated right in the heart of the Estate.

You can also take an excursion down into the residential village and experience real day to day island life, meeting the locals, having a beer in one of the little roadside bars/shacks!

If you feel like a trip out to sea, you can take an excursion to the Tobago Cays where you can snorkel in the most incredible waters and see some amazing marine life.

The waters are breath-taking out at the Cays.

The hotel have their own Catamaran which you can hire privately or take a shared boat trip to the Cays.

Unfortunately we only had one week living like Royalty and said a very sad goodbye back to Barbados.

Pink Sands is lavish luxury at its best but with a laid back Caribbean feel and attentive friendly staff to make your holiday one you certainly will never forget.
