Cape Town, a Safari and Mauritius from the Gilbert Family

Here is my short piece on our holiday, together with a few photos from our favourite spots.

“After weeks of research, we finally decided where we wanted to go on our family holiday of a lifetime – a combination of Cape Town, a Safari and Mauritius. Realising the itinerary was far too complicated to sort out and book ourselves we contacted Maggie at The Travelwallet and discussed with her the details of what we wanted to do. Her knowledge and experience were amazing and she was able to fine tune the details expertly.

Firstly arranging serviced apartment accommodation in a brilliant location in Cape TownLawhills – within 5 minutes walk of great restaurants and the attractions of the V&A Waterfront. In just over 3 short days we packed in a lot of sightseeing, the highlight of which was a helicopter tour over Cape Town and around Table Mountain.

The next part of our trip was a 3 day safari. On Maggie’s suggestion, we decided on the Amakhala Reserve in the Eastern Cape, which is a malaria free region. We opted to stay at Hillsnek – which was quite simply the best experience we have ever had. The staff, the food, the tents, the views and above all the drives were all magical. We saw many amazing animals and learned a great deal from our wonderful ranger.

The final part of out trip was for 6 days to the beautiful island of Mauritius. We stayed in the more sheltered North West region at the Victoria Beachcomber Resort. The hotel was excellent and the location was spectacular with all food, drink and most activities included.

We also went on a couple of tours to get to see and find out a little more about Mauritius. We soon realised however that we had only scratched the surface and there is a lot more to do in Mauritius than we expected.

As with all places we visited, we long to return at some time in the future.

Our trip surpassed all our expectations and it is thanks to Maggie and her team at the Travelwallet, that once booked, we could simply relax and enjoy our holiday.”
