Liz’s 7 night cruise around Mediterranean

I have just returned from another wonderful 7 Night cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Line. The itinerary was fabulous, Venice, Montenegro, Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos, Dubrovnik back to Venice.

On arrival into Venice we had a transfer to the ship it was around half an hour taking in The Grand Canal on route, this was a lovely site.

Mediterranean CruiseAfter a seamless Embarkation it was time to explore The Norwegian Star, this is one of the larger ships and has been refurbished so I was really impressed. Our cabin was spacious and had plenty of wardrobe space and a very large shower. There are two main complimentary dining rooms, a buffet plus the main dining room that offers a changeable daily menu including the Chef’s Signature Dishes. There are speciality restaurants including Cagney’s Steakhouse, La Cucina this is a rustic and chic Italian eatery, Le Bistro serving French cuisine and a Japanese restaurant. All the meals we had were delicious. There were loads of bars including the cocktail and champagne, which we regularly visited.

We booked the premium all-inclusive package which included all branded drinks and fine wines so on board ship we had nothing to pay even the gratuities are included. The entertainment was highly professional and we went to the shows every night. They did a Las Vegas show that was so brilliant we went to the 7.30pm and the 9.30pm show.

The ship had a really friendly atmosphere with a good range of ages and nationalities. On this particular cruise we didn’t book any excursions as it was very easy to explore the destination by foot from the tender, the only one we caught a local bus to was Dubrovnik.

Montenegro

This is a medieval old town with spectacular scenery from the ship as you approach the harbour. It has a really laid back feel to it, and a great place for a relaxing holiday. It has a fascinating maze of cobbled streets and small squares. The town is so pretty and I loved it.

Corfu

Corfu town is picturesque with a busy market so we perused around there enjoying the atmosphere. Corfu has charm and beauty and has Venetian and French elegance at the centre.

Mediterranean CruiseSantorini

Santorini was spectacular with a sheer volcanic cliff face. There are two ways to get to the top, on a cable car or on a donkey. You can walk but I would only recommend it if you are extremely fit.

There are beautiful white washed villages on the cliff top, exactly as most travel magazines show. It is unique and spectacularly unforgettable.

Mykonos

This was my favourite destination of all, it is so cosmopolitan with white washed villages, great designer shops and over 400 tiny churches. It is the prettiest place I have ever seen, flowers everywhere. It is completely picture post card and absolutely beautiful.

Dubrovnik

Mediterranean CruiseWe caught the local bus to the medieval old town with its walled city. Dubrovnik is a World Heritage Site. I have never seen anything like it before and is totally unique, with its marble floors and quiet cobbled streets.

It is the location for filming Game of Thrones TV series.

I absolutely loved this cruise and would highly recommend it. The itineraries were amazing and hope to do it all again one day.
